In general, water sports can be distinguished into non-motorized and motorized. Non-motorized water sports are operated on practically all islands. However, not all centers offer motorized water activities, mainly due to efforts to prevent ocean pollution, disturbance of peace in the resort and protection of marine fauna and flora.

The offer of non-motorized water sports varies depending on individual hotels. Their provision is usually free. Perhaps the most popular non-motorized water sport is windsurfing. The beauties of the island can also be observed from a canoe or kayak. Although paddling in a kayak or canoe may seem simple, it is a very physically demanding activity, especially in the sun. The calm waters of the Indian Ocean create perfect conditions for the timeless trendy sport of Stand Up Paddle.

Most resorts have equipment for operating motorized water sports. These activities are charged. Water skiing is very popular with tourists. There are special instructional training sessions and boatmen are patient when beginners try to ski for the first time. Parasailing is just as exciting to try as it is to watch. Other motorized sports operated at hotel resorts include wakeboarding, jet skiing, or banana rides.
