A fascinating architectural feat in Dubai.
The Dubai Opera building exceeds all expectations.
Right at the foot of the world's tallest building, the Dubai Opera building is a sparkling gem in the city center of Downtown Dubai. Dubai Opera is the most modern of its kind and brings a wide palette of world-class performances to audiences in the United Arab Emirates. Opera, ballet, musical or drama...

The choice is entirely up to you!

About the attraction

The new Dubai Opera building project was presented in 2012 as part of the planned The Opera District quarter in Downtown DubaiBehind the entire project is Dubai's largest developer, EMAAR Properties, whose portfolio also includes the world's tallest building Burj Khalifa and the commercially successful shopping center The Dubai Mall, the largest and most visited shopping center in the world.

The building's architect is Janus Rostock from the famous Atkins studio. He was inspired by the traditional wooden Dhow boat in his design. The modern building thus looks as if it were sailing past the Burj Khalifa tower towards the dancing fountain
The Dubai Fountain.

The
Dubai Opera building is essentially a multi-purpose complex that can accommodate up to 2000 spectators at once and, thanks to its adaptable interior equipment, is capable of hosting concerts, conferences and other important events. The crown of the entire project is a large skylight with an open atrium and gardens, which is used during official receptions.

Interesting facts

  • Although it might seem that the idea of an opera in the Arab world was born in record-breaking Dubai, this is not the case. The first opera building in the form we know from European metropolises was built as early as 2007 in the capital of Oman, Muscat, and still enjoys great popularity among local residents as well as enthusiasts from the entire region. Dubai Opera therefore has strong competition in the fight for audiences.

  • The main atrium is decorated with a magnificent chandelier from the Czech glass company Lasvit.
The artistic installation, which resembles a cluster of bubbles, is over three floors high, weighs 5 tons and has 3000 LED diodes. The designer of this fascinating work is Libor Sošťák.
