The new Dubai Opera building project was presented in 2012 as part of the planned The Opera District quarter in Downtown Dubai. Behind the entire project is Dubai's largest developer, EMAAR Properties, whose portfolio also includes the world's tallest building Burj Khalifa and the commercially successful shopping center The Dubai Mall, the largest and most visited shopping center in the world.
The building's architect is Janus Rostock from the famous Atkins studio. He was inspired by the traditional wooden Dhow boat in his design. The modern building thus looks as if it were sailing past the Burj Khalifa tower towards the dancing fountain The Dubai Fountain.
The Dubai Opera building is essentially a multi-purpose complex that can accommodate up to 2000 spectators at once and, thanks to its adaptable interior equipment, is capable of hosting concerts, conferences and other important events. The crown of the entire project is a large
skylight with an open atrium and gardens, which is used during official receptions.
